I've been dreading this one...

But here I go!
When we went to Carolina Beach last month, I ended up hospitalized. That's super fun...especially when you're paying to be in an ocean front condo. Are you feeling my sarcasm? Anyway. I was in an irregular heart rhythm(rapid afib) an put on a cardizem drip for 12 hours before I converted back to regular sinus rhythm. I can't thank God enough for that because I was scheduled to be shocked in the morning(called cardioversion). That would basically stop my heart momentarily so that it could restart in a regular rhythm.
They ended up doing a ton of bloodwork and found that I have a hyperactive thyroid. That in itself isn't such a big deal and is easily treated. However, it has toyed with my heart a bit. I saw an endocrinologist when we returned to Omaha and he wants to remove my thyroid. The same day that I saw the endocrinologist and said my heart has been fine...I flipped back into rapid afib. Irony at it's finest.
I ended up being admitted to Lakeside Hospital in the ICU. Same thing....hours and hours on the cardizem drip, more beta blockers and they added an antiarrhytmic. Also some meds to shrink my thyroid before surgery. I am taking more pills than most 80 year old women. Lovely. However, I did once again avoid being shocked back into a normal rhythm. Praise God!
Me in the ICU, boring little room. Pretty flowers from my parents and Ayla. I should have given my mom flowers....we brought Ayla to them at midnight(on our way to the ER) and she kept her for 3 days/nights. Thanks mom and dad.
My fabulous little pill regimen. I even got myself a snazzy little pill box.

I will have surgery sometime in November(probably right around the time we close on our new home, of course) to remove my thyroid and will then be on synthroid for the rest.of.my.life.
